Siena Limo Tour: Tuscany at its BestSiena is one of Tuscany's true gems and a classic limo tour destination. It boasts an amazingly well preserved Medieval city center. The Piazza del Campo, the Duomo and the Palazzo Pubblico (with its Good and Bad Government Allegory frescoes) are only a few of the many historic and awe-inspiring landmarks you will encounter in this UNESCO world heritage site.
As an authorized limo service, we have permission to drive you directly to the heart of the city in an area that is normally off limits for cars. In Siena you will have ample time to explore the town and perhaps get some lunch in one of the many good restaurants that can be found in town. We will be glad to assist you if you need help in choosing a restaurant. |
The Palio
From May through August you will notice preparations for the Palio, a traditional horse race which takes place twice a year (July 2nd and August 16th) in the main square (il Campo). This is by far the biggest event in town, and perhaps the most famous contest of this sort in the country, with live TV coverage and thousands of attendees from all over the world. Each horse represents a different Neighborhood (contrada) and the goal is to win the treacherous 3 lap race around the Campo. Being a member of a contrada is felt as an honor and privilege and is a distinct trait of the Sienese identity. Preparations for the race start months in advance with contradaioli practicing their choreographed parades in traditional costumes with rolling of drums and whirling and throwing of flags.
