Driving in Downtown Florence

Driving in the center of Florence is strictly regulated.  Most vehicles are not allowed to enter the Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL). Only some specific categories of vehicles (i.e. taxis, limo services, local residents, etc) can apply for the type of permit our vehicles have which grants us unrestricted access to the ZTL.

 Although it is possible for a tourist staying at a hotel in central Florence to enter/exit the center on a certain date with a car whitelisted through their hotel's concierge, driving in Florence is NOT recommended unless you are a local and really, really know what you are doing.  Many streets are very narrow and some are too narrow for most vehicles. It is challenging enough for the professional driver.  Let alone for the unwitting tourist who think they can pull it off  and as a result often incur in stress, heavy fines, getting towed and delayed in their travels. 

For those who have their own car and want to just visit Florence for the day, the best strategy is to park way out of town at the Villa Costanza parking, just off the A1 Highway. From there you can take public transportation ("Tramvia" T1 line)  into town or just arrange to meet up with us at Villa Costanza and use our limo services for the day. We will deliver you back to Villa Costanza at the end of the day.
