Pisa: A Place of MiraclesPisa is one of the classic places to visit by limo as a day excursion. As a fully licensed limo service, we can drive you all the way up to the foot of the Leaning Tower (in Pisa's restricted traffic zone), waiting while you explore the grounds.
It is possible to arrange for a specialized local tour guide (guida turistica) to walk you through the monuments and illustrate the art and history of Pisa in detail. The tour guide can also purchase your Leaning Tower tickets for you in advance. You can also purchase the tickets online yourself from the official OPA Pisa website. * |
About Piazza dei Miracoli
Pisa's Piazza dei Miracoli (literally: Square of Miracles) is home to the world famous Leaning Tower. But there is much more to see besides the world famous Tower. In fact, while not as universally known, the Baptistery, Cathedral and Monumental Cemetery (situated next door to the Tower) are truly amazing landmarks in there own right, perhaps surpassing the Tower in terms of the sheer amount of artwork and historic relevance.
The building of these landmarks initiated in the 11th Century when Pisa was at the apex of its splendor as a Maritime Republic and perhaps the most prominent power in the Mediterranean with its influence extending from the Northern African shores through Sicily and Sardinia all the way to Spain.
